September Brings National Assisted Living Week
Established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), National Assisted Living Week (which begins on Grandparents Day each year) helps promote awareness about assisted living facilities and the important way they benefit local communities, residents, and their families.
This year’s National Assisted Living Week is September 13th —19th. The theme is “Caring is Essential,” which highlights the incredible care provided by essential caregivers in assisted living communities.
Due to COVID-19, much of the day-to-day life of the staff and residents in assisted living communities has changed. Despite these hurdles, staff members continue to play a critical role in caring for residents. This is why, this September, we are proud to celebrate National Assisted Living Week and its theme “Caring is Essential.” It’s our way of honoring our hard-working and compassionate staff members, as well as honoring the individuality of our residents and the deep connections formed in assisted living communities.
Every day, the staff at Grand Oaks of Okeechobee helps our residents stay connected to their friends and family, while adhering to COVID-19 safety requirements and precautions. They fight hard to keep our residents not only safe but engaged, active, and happy. While their own families are unable to physically be beside them and visit with them as they usually would, we have happily taken them on as our own family members – because they are our family members.
Many assisted living communities are hosting a variety of events and activities during National Assisted Living Week, including Grand Oaks of Okeechobee. We encourage you to follow our Facebook Page to see photos of our staff and residents enjoying the different activities and events we have planned.
